Laruan sa Bata

Pictured below is a four-piece ceramic toy set that includes a miniature stove, cooking pot with lid, and frying pan. The miniature stove includes three prongs that are meant to support each of the included pots. This set is part of a collection of ceramics that were sold in Batangas, Philippines and meant to be used as childrens’ toys. 

This set of toys hails from San Juan, Batangas, which holds a majority Tagalog population. Today, the Tagalog people make up about 20% of the population of the Philippines, residing mostly in the Luzon region in and around the city of Manila. This wide range of geography is accompanied by a diverse economy of the Tagalog people, ranging from agricultural areas like Batangas to the industrial city of Manila. Nowadays, Batangas is known for its numerous tourist destinations, including being the location of the Taal Volcano.
